Men's nail polish: colorful nails for everyone: more and more men are wearing nail polish. For boys, nail polish for men means freedom to express themselves fashionably, to break conventions and also to set an example politically.
Trend men nail polish
The trend, which for the last few years has mainly been seen in celebrities like the late Virgil Abloh, A$AP Rocky, Harry Styles and Brad Pitt, seems to have finally reached the mainstream: men are wearing nail polish. And not just black or grey, but brightly colored and decorated with asterisks and smileys.
Why do men wear nail polish
Incidentally, the idea of using nail polish as a man comes from the mostly heterosexual punk, rock, grunge and skater world and less from the drag queen culture, but in the past it was more boys from the queer scene with their painted nails that were a sign of set more tolerant. That has changed a lot in the meantime, painted nails on men are no longer seen as "gay" and are also worn by heterosexual men as a matter of course. Of course, we also notice that at OZN, more and more customers are men who do not order for their wife or girlfriend. I'm also allowed to paint my husband's toenails in the summer.
#Polishedman takes a stand against violence and abuse
For the boys, nail polish means freedom to express themselves fashionably, to break conventions and also to set an example politically. The American Elliot Costello has launched a special appeal for donations: Men post pictures of themselves with only one painted fingernail under the hashtag "#Polishedman". According to the organizers of the campaign, one in five children worldwide experience violence and abuse before the age of 18, hence only one painted fingernail in five. The proceeds from the donation will be used for trauma therapy for victims of abuse.
OZN nail polish for men since 2017
Precisely because men now wear nail polish so self-confidently and the boundaries between "only for happy people, only for men" dissolve so clearly here, there is no nail polish explicitly only for men at OZN. Years ago we developed the TRAEGI nail polish in cooperation with the photographer Sebastian Trägner (You can read the blog post here), who is passionate about wearing nail polish and will continue to name more polishes after boys in the future, most of our polishes still have girls' names.
So dear men, please let yourself be inspired by our entire range and don't just reach for black or grey, life is colorful and our fingernails should be too!
